Well, clearly, I can't keep up with my blog. So I've decided to try something different...Fat tweeting.
If you are a fellow fat tweeter, feel free to follow me at http://twitter.com/FatCatherine.
It's official: 188.2, 10% goal of 18lbs.
The receptionist at the meeting was thrilled to "reset" my membership as though it was my first week. It just so happened that I was due for a new card, so it worked out perfectly. Of course, after meeting I went and stuffed myself at Margarita's, but I have a pole class after work, so it works out. I'll have a light snack after class in the evening. ..
I haven't blogged much about my weight loss efforts lately because, well, I'd really gotten off course. Since this time last year, I've put back on a good 20 lbs. Granted, it could be much much worse, but at this rate, it won't take me long to undo my success.
So...I'm starting fresh. This week I'm a week 1 girl. Journal EVERYTHING. Check off all my "healthy guidelines". And declare a new "starting weight": 187. Starting from here, I have 30 lbs to lose...not nearly as daunting as the first time I did this.
As soon as I find the disc with my charts on it, I'm going to back that up, and start fresh with a blank copy. I have a new 10% goal, -18lb, but I'm going to start with a 5% goal. Nine pounds; target date: Valentine's day.
Kris and I completely forgot to take a camera with us to New Orleans, which was a pity, but we were only there for less than 24 hours, so we will have to go back, of course. And with flights on Southwest so reasonable, it shouldn't be a problem!
I was, of course, interested in seeing what was different than before the flood. Keeping in mind that I never really left the "tourism areas" on either visit, and this time only visited the French Quarter, I have to say the biggest difference I noticed was the number of empty or closed up shoppes. Also, the hours seemed shorter in many restaurants and so forth. Basically, tourism is down, but not completely out.
We arrived around lunchtime, so I dragged Kris right to Jackson Square for a lunch at Cafe Pontalba. We had to wait in line, for a restaurant with a great location, but famously pissy service, so there are still *some* tourists out there. I really enjoyed my special, and Kris had a nice crawfish po-boy.
Later we got beignets at Cafe duMonde, then wandered back to our hotel to relax. On the way out in the evening, Kris spotted a sign for "Crawfish Beignets" as appetizer at the Louisiana Bistro, and even though it was a slow night in there, after a few trips around the blocks, we decided it since we'd had crawfish and we'd had beignets, heck! we should have them together. The reviews are right: the food was AMAZING, service was fantastic....I'll be back! (I did mention I'd be blogging about the place...no idea it was as well rated as it is!)
I hope we can return soon. It looks like our next trip will be to the Pac. NW though!
Kris & I are traveling together more this year than we have in the entire time we've been together. (which is a loooooooong time!) We came to Baton Rouge to visit with his family, and we'll be spending tomorrow in New Orleans before I fly back to the 'nati. He'll be visiting more family, road-trippin' it solo, and most likely won't be back for Thanksgiving, but that's ok, I have lots to do with my shoppe.
On Friday I took a half day and stopped to get gas at the station near my house. It was there that something happened that really shook me up. This gets pretty graphic, so I'm going to put the story below the line, but here's the quick jist: I saw a little dog get killed, right in front of me.
I took a fun Pole Dancing class on Friday at this new place Flirts Fitness. It was awesome, but wow, was I sore for the rest of the weekend. I was really getting bored with my usual routine, so I think this might get me going again! Now I need to lose 10 lbs so I have less to lug up that pole!
